2022 is drawing to a close - I just can’t believe how quickly the year has flown by! And that’s not all, this month I was blessed enough to celebrate seven years of Mimi et Mina - such a special moment for me and my amazing team. True to form, I threw an epic bash to mark the occasion and gathering with my friends, family and beloved clientele has made me reflect on my journey since I first founded the salon.

So much has changed, from the creation of our Timeless wig collection to launching our new and improved e-commerce edit, and I am so proud of what Mimi et Mina has become. However, it is so important to me that Mimi et Mina remains committed to our original raison d'etre, filling a gap in the market that I felt was severely lacking - a luxury styling experience for those with afro and curly hair.

Meeting the needs of our clients and helping them feel utterly fabulous always has and always will be the priority, and we can’t wait to welcome you into the salon in the new year. But before we get the NYE party spirit flowing, I’d love to share this year’s final edition of Mimi’s monthly roundup - a whistlestop tour of all the things that have captured my senses in December 2022.

Mimi sees…Harry & Meghan

It was so interesting to delve into the lives of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and find out more about their journey from when they first met to where they are now. They are clearly so in love, have chosen to put themselves first and we have to respect that.

Mimi listens to…The Goop Podcast: Examining Your Money Mind

This month I tuned into an episode of The Goop Podcast which tackled the topic of personal finance with a super fresh expert approach. It was great to hear Joe Duran’s (the head of Goldman Sachs’ Personal Finance Management) insight into what financial wellbeing looks like and how to set goals for the new year. Consider me inspired!

Mimi smells…Bibliothèque by Byredo

Byredo’s Bibliothèque perfume has a cult following for a reason, and I’m 100% onboard. The scent is a beautiful blend of soft fruity sophistication - think soft peach and ripe plum - mixed with a placating woody vanilla comfort blanket. Enchanting.

Mimi feels…cashmere by Cos

Situated on the upper end of the high street, Cos is still my first port of call when it comes to affordable cashmere. How many seasonal knits is too many? Asking for a friend…

Mimi tastes…Pen Yen at Soho House

Soho House’s much-loved Pen Yen is a celebration of the best of Japanese cuisine. Its amazing mix-and-match otsumami small plates system means that you can experience a whole host of culinary delights, from gyoza and seared aubergine to melt-in-the-mouth tempura and its classic sushi selection. Good vibes all round sums it up to a T.

 Bisou,
